Tat Wong Kung Fu Academy Black Belt Test -

On Saturday, July 25th, over 30 Bay Area Tat Wong Kung Fu Academy students gathered for our Spring Black Belt Test.  Nineteen came to earn their very first Black Belts, while four students returned to achieve their 1st, four their 2nd, and four more their 3rd Degree. Over the six-hour test, the sifus kept the candidates busy with hand and weapon sets, technique drills, self-defense applications, board-breaking, and, after they were good and tired, endurance demonstrations.

A number of our instructors tested this time. Sihings Will Lee, Michael Bauld, and Thomas So, and sijeh Gabriella Sarrouh all achieved their 3^rd Degrees. Sihing Les Allan moved up to 2^nd Degree.

Many families enjoy classes together at the Tat Wong Kung Fu Academy, and siblings and parents testing together are a common occurrence. This time around, brothers Justin & Ryan Lee reached 2^nd together.

Our big tale of determination was Diana Cabral. She was a top competitor at TWKFA in the 90’s, but had to stop before she reached black belt. After a 15-year gap, she returned and reached her goal. It’s never too late!

Afterwards, family & friends gathered for the evening’s Traditional Tea Ceremony with Grandmaster Tat Mau Wong. Candidates served tea to Master Jeff Chow, and received their belts and words of wisdom.

The accomplishment of receiving a Black Belt is a memory that lasts a lifetime. Join us in Congratulations to all of our July 2015 Black Belts!  (see list below)
